Issue 1: Benvenuti a Catania
Issue One: Benvenuti a Catania!
Benvenuti Amici!
(Welcome Friends!)
For the
inaugural post of Dappled Little Things
(and to mark my return to the blogosphere after a brief hiatus; you can still
find previous posts at A Shoe Collection to Envy, Tutte le mie Scarpe and La Stella Notte’s Style (Chic That’s Easy as 1, 2, 3), I wanted to bring you
more: more fashion (how to style key
pieces and achieve showcased looks), more travel (where to go and how to get
more out of your journey), more culture (what to do and how to personalize it),
more food (what to eat, drink and try), more beauty (how to make the most and
achieve the most of the world around and inside you), more life(style) (how to
live and experience it), and of course, more shoes!
I decided I would start my Dappled Little Things adventure in Catania, Sicily; founded in the 8th Century BC and nestled in the
shadow of Mount Etna, Catania is the second largest city on the island (behind
Palermo) with well over 1 million inhabitants, and sits on the
bank of the Ionian Sea in the Mediterranean.
Catania is where I spent many a day conversing with friends
under the outdoor canopy of a café (bar), bargaining with vendors over the
price of a scarf at the daily market, and even learning to speak la bella lingua (the beautiful language)
with fellow expats in classes for foreigners offered by the city; I love
it! I loved every minute of my time in
this historic city –it was the first place I had ever lived that felt like
home.
So in this issue of Dappled Little Things, I am taking you home
with me –Benvenuti a Catania! Welcome to
Catania!

For a relaxed
(beachy-vacation) look, don a tailored, linen pant in a striped print; add, crisp
white slip-ons, and complete the ensemble with a woven-straw-shell bag in a
neutral color.
